Sofia the First season premier

Well the day we, well our kids, have been waiting for has finally arrived.  Your princes and princesses can roll out the red carpet for the series premiere of Sofia The First on Saturday, January 19th at 7pm ET.  We have heard lots about Sofia and now its finally time for the season premier!  Sofia has much to be thankful for this year - becoming a princess, her loving family, new friends (and let’s not forget that amazing room and wardrobe!).  Brandon and I read a great new book about Sofia and I love that he loved it.  I love that he didn't care that it was a princess book and he asked me to read it to him 4 nights in a row.

I know that he excited to see the premier of Sofia the First, we have it PVR'd because the kids are with their Dad this weekend.  He will be pumped when he gets to see that when he gets home!  There is another surprise that Kristina is going to freak over when she gets home!

Right before the Sofia the First premier will be Cinderella!!!!  That's right!  Cinderella, one of Disney's timeless classics, premieres on Disney Junior on Saturday January 19th at 5:45pm ET.

But wait, there’s more! Cinderella II: Dreams Come True will premiere on Sunday January 27th at 10:15am ET. If you loved sharing your special memories of Cinderella with your child on the 19th, you won't want to miss Cinderella II: Dreams Come True!

Disney Junior for the Holidays

We are so beyond excited for Christmas around here, we are into the advent calendar, reading Christmas stories, watching Christmas shoes and more.  We are Christmas crazy and I love it, Christmas has to be my favorite holiday and I am making my kids love it as much as I do.  With how fast this month flies by I am pretty happy with where I am at with my list.  We have the decorating all done, the shopping is almost done, I have the gingerbread house ready to decorate and the night of the Christmas concert off. 

Something I still need to do is take some time, I need to figure out the quick way, to program my PVR with all of the great Christmas shows that will be on over the next few weeks.  Then when I need a minute or two to spare to get something done I have it and when I want to curl up on the couch and have some snuggles.  Thats what the Holidays are all about anyways! 

Here is the schedual for whats on this month on Disney Junior!

Jake and the Never Land Pirates will be setting sail on brand-new adventures this month with new episodes on Saturday, December 1, 8, 15 and 22 at 10:30am ET.

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas will premiere Saturday, December 1 AND Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas will premiere Saturday, December 8, both at 11:00am ET.

The Santa Buddies movie will premiere Saturday, December 15 at 11am ET.

Make sure to set your PVR and cozy up!  Also you can always find some fun on a cold day on disneyjunior.ca  There are some great games as well as some Holiday eCards that you can send to family and friends.  We did them last year and it was a lot of fun, this year though they have added even more designs.

Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess

My kids just came home tonight from a weekend with their Dad and they were exhausted and very needy and snugly.  That's how they usually come home ;)  They basically need me to sit right down on the couch, snuggle them until bedtime and listen to them tell me every detail of their weekend.  The good, the bad and every little detail that they think is important.  I don't have time to do up a big dinner so its usually something very simple because they usually come to my work right when I get off for the night. 

I can't wait for the premier of Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess because its on a Saturday night, November 24th at 7pm and although the kids will be with their dad its the first thing we will do on our snuggle couch on Sunday night!  I may secretly hope that my life starts out with moving into a castle like Sofia :)

Sofia's royal adventure begins as she prepares to move into the castle with her mom, starting a new family with her step-father, King Roland II, and step-siblings, Amber and James. Sofia soon discovers that looking like a princess isn't all that difficult, but displaying honesty, loyalty, courage, compassion, independence and grace is what makes one truly royal… some great life lessons for your kids and even yourself.

This will make for some great conversations with even my 10 year old.  Its aimed at the younger crowd but I know Kristina will watch it and it will open up some doors of conversation and anything that does that is welcome in my books!

Watch for Sofia to be making a regular appearance on Disney Junior in 2013 and be sure to listen for the answer to a certain question so that you can enter to win a Sofia book prize pack!  You can enter here and the link will go live as soon as Sofia airs :)

Disney Junior Halloween Style

You can always count on Disney Junior to get our little ones pumped about upcoming holidays! They are so great about putting on specials and such to stretch out that excitement and get them into the holiday spirit.  Halloween this year is no different! There will be many specials on this year including every Saturday and Sunday until Halloween from 9:00-11:00 am. There will be great new shows and of course they will be Halloween themed!

I don't know about your kids but mine are so excited and want to try on their costumes everyday and can't stop talking about Halloween. We used to live out in the country where there isn't even any street lights so we used to have to come to town to do our trick or treating and I am pretty excited to not have to worry about that this year.

We are still deciding whether or not we want to do our trick or treating in our own complex, which I do want to do but I am feeling like it would be a but tacky because my house would be empty and nobody would be handing out candy.

We are leaning towards doing my parents neighbourhood which is what we usually do but this time it's only a 5 minute drive away. I have the day off work now so we will be able to go down the Main Street and trick or treat, get out to see lots of costumes. Brandon is still talking about it from last year!

#DisneyJuniorMom ~ New shows, old shows and a great contest!

So all Brandon seems to want to check out on TV is Disney Junior, we seem to be over the other channels and that's really all he wants to watch!  Its a good thing I enjoy a lot of the shows as well and that they are all great shows for the kids!  Kristina may not admit it publicly but she enjoys it as well.  Its not what she would put on by herself, but shes happy to cuddle up with her Mama and watch along side :)

There is a great new show on Disney Junior I wanted to tell you about!  Its called Justin Time.   In the premiere episode on Sunday, September 16th at 8:30am ET titled “ARRGH”, Justin becomes the captain of a pirate ship, but it’s not all smooth-sailing, when Justin and his crew encounter the infamous Captain Redbeard! The adventures of Justin Time will continue every weekend on Disney Junior at 8:30am ET and 3:30pm ET, starting Sunday, September 16th! Its going to be a good week that week!  Its also going to be Jake and the Neverland Pirates pirate week starting September 17th until September 21st at 5:10 ET everyday!  On the Friday, the 21st, there is even a special 45 minute episode!  We will have the PVR set for the days I will be at work, we definitely don't want to miss this, plus if I know Brandon he will want to watch these episodes over and over again!

Yo Ho Let’s Go! Summer

Now that its Summer and the weather has finally hit we are outside all day every day.  When the kids are at daycare they spend a lot of time outside and my days off almost are spend outside.  We go to the water park, run through the sprinkler or just chill in the shade.  The other night I set up the sprinkler to occupy the kids so that I could cook dinner in peace and quiet.  Turns out Brandon decided that it would be funny to turn the sprinkler up and down by way of the outside tap.

Somehow he managed to unscrew the entire handle right off of the tap.  Needless to say the kids were screaming for me so I ran outside and saw water shooting right out of the wall.  So I tried to screw it back on without getting wet.  Easier said than done.  I was starting to get wet and didn't want to get totally soaked so I asked Kristina to try.  Well she tried but she just couldn't do it.  So back at it I went and man did I get soaked.  The kids and I had a good laugh, the kids did more than me, but it sure did end up being funny.

The back door to my place was right in front of the huge waterfall so I send Kristina the long way around to the front door to go in and stir dinner before it burned.  I got the tap reattached and the kids and I went in to change and eat.  We made memories that night for sure.  That's what life is about, making memories!

One of the kids favorite things to do is to cuddle up on the couch with popcorn and watch a movie or some TV.  I love having them cuddled up to me, they open up and love to talk when we do this as well.  They also open up and talk lots at bedtime.  As long as I take the time to lay down with them, read them a book, they open up like their own book.

So when its to hot to be outside or when the kids get up or before they go to bed you can tune into Disney Junior and check out some great new episodes of your favorite shows!  For all of July and August on Monday nights at 5:35 ET you can see a new episode of your kids favourite series followed by a movie or special presentation!!  Can't get any better than that!  At least we don't have to sit through a rerun ;)

Stella and Sam Draw along Contest

This month Disney Junior is celebrating the homegrown show Stella and Sam.  If you have a little budding artist on your hands listen up!

There is a great new contest right now on Disney Junior!  If you set your little ones to work on drawing and then coloring a picture they are entered to have their drawing come to life on Disney Junior.  How cool would that be!  10 lucky artists will see their drawings come to life in animation form during the Canada Day Stella & Sam Marathon on Disney Junior on Sunday, July 1st starting at 11:30am ET Plus they’ll receive gift packs containing Stella & Sam books, apps, DVDs and a music CD!  Check it out here!


The next best thing about this contest is that EVERYONE who enters will be able to download the brand new Stella & Sam ‘Draw Along’ iPad app for free!!  That will come in handy waiting at the Dr. office or on a long drive. 
 

 
So spent a few minutes tomorrow on the great Disney Junior site and while you are there check out all of other great games they have!  Brandon's favorite right now is the new Doc McStuffins Clinic game.  You  pick a toy to be the Dr. to, you can check their temperature and use a stethoscope, its really easy and lots of fun for the kids!
 
Be sure to also tune in From June 18th to June 22nd at 5:10pm ET - Captain Hook will be the star of Disney Jake and the Never Land Pirates! And a brand-new episode titled "Captain Hook is Missing" will premiere at the end of the week at 5:10pm.  Brandons favorite show, we will be watching for sure!  Actually I should set the PVR right now in case I forget :)
 
Lastly  don’t miss the very special episode where Special Agent Oso meets Handy Manny. On Sunday June 3rd at 10:30am ET, your little ones will want to tune-in for a very special episode of Disney Special Agent Oso. Oso will need to help a friend fix his bike and Handy Manny and his Tools come to the rescue!

Happy birthday Disney Junior

Can you believe that Disney Junior has been here for a year already?  I sure can't! I had a post all ready to go last week to let you know about the special episode of A Bugs Life last night but I guess I didn't post it :(  Hopefully you saw the ads for it and got a chance to watch it.  My kids were with their Dad and weren't able to watch it but I PVR'd it so we can have a nice movie night this week!  Popcorn and all :)

I don't know about you but birthdays are big fun with us.  I always like to make the entire day special.  From what you want for breakfast to lunch, activities, kind of cake and anything else we do.  They don't get to decide everything but pretty close.  Favorite meals and fun cakes, its all about making memories.  That's my new motto.  Everything we do with our kids is all about making memories.  Its not about being clean, getting the boring stuff done its all about how you do and that you make some memories along the way.

Disney Junior has some great birthday goodies on their website right now.  They have some awesome ideas for everything birthday, from cake to goodie bags.  There are some really fun games on there as well as some really cute coloring sheets you can print out.  If you are like me and like to start planning the party a few months in advance be sure to check out some of the great ideas!

Doc McStuffins

We have been watching a bit less TV lately trying to get a new schedule going and fitting in everything that needs to be done.  I sure have lots of to do lists and errands going on right now.  Brandon isn't missing TV to much but he has been asking about Jake and the Neverland Pirates as well as Handy Manny.

Did you see the new show on Disney Junior Doc McStuffins?  We have and both kids loved it.  I didn't think that Kristina would be to into it because she is 9 and more into the older kids shows but she loved it.  She does still love her stuffies and playing with them.  She is in bed with 5 of them right now :)  She is still big into pretend and that's what this great new show is all about. 


Doc McStuffins is about a 6 year old girl who has created a clinic with the help of her stuffies.  Its so right up my kids alleys and I am sure lots of your kids as well.  Pretend play is so important, nowadays with all of the new electronics and so on its easier than ever for kids to detach themselves from us and the whole real world and get sucked right into video games and such.  A good show like Doc McStuffins and then off to play with their stuffies is what a lot of kids need!  Mine included!

Who loves Strawberry Shortcake?

Ok so last week I told you all about how Jake and the Neverland Pirates is going to be all new this week!  It started this morning and new episodes will run all week!  Friday though will be the show you have all been waiting for!  Peter Pan Returns is on Friday night at 6pm ET.  Its going to be a good one!

If you kids are not as obsessed with Jake and the Neverland Pirates as Brandon is there is some other great news for you!  Strawberry Shortcake is not just a girly show, Brandon does enjoy watching it and after this week of Jake Jake Jake I am sure he will be happy to watch some Strawberry Shortcake!

Jake and the Neverland Pirates on Disney Junior

Have I mentioned before how much I love, well Brandon, loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates?  He plays Jake, he watches Jake on Disney Junior, he watches the Jake movie, he watches Peter Pan and talks and talks and talks about Jake!  I think I may have passed down my OCD to him :)

Jake and the Neverland Pirates is heading into its 2nd season, yaaaaa for Jake and his friends.  We love watching it, and even I find myself watching and listening to Jake.  I actually enjoy it and don't end up annoyed watching it or walking away because I cant' handle being in the same room.  I don't really find that with any Disney Junior shows, mostly with other channels, but my all time favorite Jake and the Neverland Pirate memory is when we were all out for dinner and Brandon dropped a piece of food and muttered "oh coconuts!"  So funny!

There is going to be a Jake and the Neverland Pirates marathon this month!  From March 19th - 23rd 6pm - 7pm EST there will be a new episode on, every night, the 6:30 showing!  You know we will be PVRing them so we can watch them again and again.  The Friday night will be the big show of Peter Pan Returns airing at 6pm EST!  Sounds like a great week, make sure you tune in!

Disney Junior - Happy Valentines Day

We went for dinner the other night, we went to a Chinese buffet, it was soooo good.  But back to my point, as we were eating our dessert, jello and nanaimo bars, Brandon dropped one of his pieces of jello off of his fork and muttered under his breath "oh coconuts!"  It was so funny, I burst out laughing and Kris was like, he said what?!?!?!  You know we watch to much Jake and the Neverland Pirates when!

Are your little ones getting excited for Valentines Day?  Brandon has already picked out his Valentines Day cards, although I don't know who we are going to give them to, other than family.  Regardless they will make a good craft and something to do on a boring, rainy, cold day. 

Have you seen the new Valentines Day activities on the Disney Junior site?  You can print out Valentines Day coloring pages or make your own e-card?  There is even a Valentines Day special on Feb 11th!  Be sure to set your PVR or watch it live!

Happy Holidays from Disney Junior

We, and by we I mean Brandon, are so excited for Christmas.  Brandon talkes about Santa and Christmas everyday and of course Kristina, Kris and I are excited but man this is the first year Brandon has actually gotten it and its awsome.  I love when his eyes just light up and how magical it all to him.  Kids really do hold the magic of Christmas. 

Kristina is a bit less into it this year, I guess its the age.  Shes 9 now and still helped decorate and seems excited but just not as much as in past years.  Other than the advent calender the one big thing she is getting excited about these days is Christmas shows and movies.  She will even watch ones that are more geared towards little kids.  Christmas shows are Christmas shows and I love that we can all watch them together as a family!

Kris has about 6 Christmas movies on the PVR and I am sure more will be added.  Disney Junior has some great ones!   We missed the first 2, did any of you catch them?  How were they?  Here is the schedual

TinkerBell on Disney Junior

Brandon uses his imagination all of the time!  Hes a big play on his own kid, probably because I was big on that from the beginning.  I have always believed that if you are always entertaining them they will always need you to entertain them.  I am not saying that I don't play with him, at all, but just that its so good for him to play on his own.  With his sister at school all day hes like an only child for a lot of the day.  Also even when Kristina is home you have to remember that they are more than 5 years apart so as much as they do play together they also have lots of play time apart.

Brandon will talk to his toys and talk back for them, he plays a lot of dress up, and makes make believe houses and forts.  The other day, the entire day was spent playing Buzz and Woody.  Daddy was Woody all day and Brandon was Buzz all day.  It worked into everything and lasted all day lol!

Have you seen TinkerBell Fridays this month?  TinkerBell is over 100 years old now, she was first introduced in 1904, how crazy is that.  I remember when my brother and I were little and my mom took us to see Peter Pan in the theatre and my brother thought that if Peter Pan could fly, he could fly.  So with my horrified mother watching he jumped up on the arm rest of the seat and jumped off as high as he could, during the movie.  Obviously he didn't fly but it sure stuck with us and just goes to show you how imaginative kids can be.

Each Friday Disney Junior will air a different TinkerBell movie PLUS they have a brand new “Pixie Hollow Game” coming to http://www.disneyjunior.ca/
