Idbids with Giveaway **Closed**

Imagine a world where we have taught environmental sustainability as a fundamental concept to our children – just as we teach shapes, colors, letters and the importance of saying "please and thank you."

What are Idbids? Idbids are stuffed dolls that are organic Egyptian cotton which have been colored with natural organic dyes – no two are alike, just like children! There is Scout the cloud, Lola the flower of the bunch or Waverly the bright blue water drop. They are a great tool to help your child learn about the enviroment and have fun doing it.

We received the Waverly Idbid starter kit for Brandon. He loves it. Its such a soft, cozy, and cuddly raindrop. He loves to carry it around and cuddle it. Also in the starter kit is storybook printed on recycled paper with eco-friendly inks. The storybook introduces the Idbids and invites the child to go on a wonderful journey of discovery. By taking iddy biddy steps along with his or her Idbid, the child learns about our Earth and what he or she can do to make a difference.

It also includes the Official Idbids Field Guide includes 10 doable iddy biddy steps. The child can chart his or her progress as steps are completed every day. Printed on recycled paper with eco-friendly inks. An organic cotton backpack for the journey, can be used to carry the Idbid and Field Guide, for school books or for storing a collection. And lastly an online reward program recognizes the child with a personalized Certificate of Completion once the Field Guide is complete.

This is really something that can grow with your child. Brandon is much to young to enjoy the online reward program but it is something that Kristina could do. He mostly enjoys carrying around his Idbid and the backpack but that's all so far. I feel good though knowing that this will grow with him.

If you are looking for a great eco-friendly toy for your little one or one who know this is a great gift! The kit packaging is even made from recycled and eco-friendly materials and includes paper doll cutouts and a playland insert.

Idbids has offered up one starter kit, of your choice, to the winner

Moms R The Best!!! With a Giveaway **Closed**

Moms are the best, aren't we? I certainly think so and so does Cheryl, the owner of Moms R The Best! Do you think so and want to tell everyone? Check out the shirts at Moms R The Best.

Cheryl wants all moms to feel great about being moms, or grandparents or dads so she created Moms R The Best. Its an online store that carries many tee shirts about being a mom or grandparent or dad etc. They have some adorable and witty slogans.

Here's a bit about Cheryl and Moms R The Best:

I am a wife and full-time working mother of three young children – 2 yr old son, 3 yr old son and 5 yr old daughter (yes, my sons are Irish Twins as they are only 10 months apart - - talk about poor planning skills) trying to balance life! As a busy mom the staple items of my wardrobe are t-shirts and jeans. Aside from work and being a mompreneur most of my "free” time is spent running errands, cleaning up behind the kids, chauffeuring my daughter to social outings, or handling important household responsibilities so it's important to me that my wardrobe consist of comfortable clothing that can quickly be thrown in the washer & dryer. At the same time, just because I'm a mom I don’t want to look frumpy or outdated. That's what prompted me to launch Moms R The Best -- a mom-owned company that offers quality, fashionable tees for busy moms who still want to have a feminine appeal even while handling everyday business. Moms R The Best tees are slim-fitted to flatter the female silhouette unlike many boxy, unflattering ladies tees. Moreover, Moms R The Best tees contain unique slogans that every mom can relate to -- some spunky, some meaningful. We have a special selection of t-shirts for dads, grandmas, and kids.

All of their tees are preshrunk other than the infant and toddler tees. They have some toddler tees which is what they sent us for Brandon. We got the Moms little sweet pea tee in a 3. Its a regular standard cotton tee and is definitely sized generously. It is definitely to big for him right now. It shrunk a bit when washed and dried but it still was a very good size.

Cheryl is offering one reader a shirt of their choice from Moms R The Best!

Lotus Paperie

My kids love to do crafts, well Kristina does anyways, but I hate them. I can't stand the mess, the stress with Brandon touching everything and just the time it takes to do, when its something for me, not the kids. I used to do scrapbooking, not well but I liked the end result. I basically ran out of time when Brandon was born but still love the look of crafts like that.

When I saw Lotus Paperie on Etsy I was in love. She is a crafter, she loves it and she is amazing at it. Here's a bit about her:

Hello! I'm Vanessa and I am the creative force behind Lotus Paperie and Grizzly Valley Hand Knits. I have been working with my hands creating handcrafted things for fun since childhood and professionally since 1994. I love the flexibility & freedom that working with papers & textiles offers. My current creative focus includes both paper, crafting & knitting.

In my last life I was a clothing designer and I created unique bridal & graduation gowns. I draw heavily on that design experience when creating items for the shop.Below, you will find a wild assortment of both paper and textile based items. Most of the pieces found in the shop will never be recreated so you will likely be purchasing a one-of-a-kind piece.

Because many of the pieces found in the shop are unique creations, making custom pieces for an individual are central to my creative process. I love working one-on-one with clients and welcome you to bring your ideas and together we can make something amazing!

Vanessa was kind enough to send me a pre-made robot themed clipboard for all of Kristina's school paperwork odds and sods. When school starts you end up with notices, book orders, and permission slips. Where do you keep them all? Do they just end up lost and then you are frantically looking for them? Well with this awesome clipboard that isn't happening anymore!

Like I said I just don't have the time, energy or want to make crafts anymore. Luckily for me Vanessa was willing to not only give me the kit, which I should mention is a very affordable $12 US, she made it for me as well. That's the great thing about her shop, its all custom and custom to what you want or need for you. There is even one kit left if you want to order it to make yourself or you can message her about her making it.

Something I am eyeing up now is the fill your own advent calender. I have been thinking about Christmas a lot lately and the advent calenders that go along with it. I don't like the cheap chocolate ones but I don't want to spend $20 on a toy one, that you have tiny little toys that end up everywhere. I love the idea that you can fill it however you want and you can do one for both kids or one for each etc.

If you need any crafting, scrapbooking, or paper needs be sure to check out Vanessas shop Lotus Paperie!

Beibi Shoes with Giveaway **Closed**

I love shoes, especially kids shoes. Boys, girls, any kids shoes I love. As long as they are good quality that is. I used to just put Kristina in any shoes I could find that were cheap. I never put my kids in used shoes, even when Kristina was small but I did use junky cheap shoes. Not anymore. I spent an entire day looking for good quality leather sandals for Brandon this summer and the perks of a small town are sometimes its downfall. I couldn't find any until the last store I checked as a last ditch effort.

Online seems to be the way the world is going. Nowadays you can go online and measure your child's foot and order the perfect pair for your child to be delivered within a few days. Wee Squeak is just that, an online shoe company that specializes in shoes for kids. They have a section of shoes called Beibi shoes that are for 0-24 months and then the Wee Squeak shoes for size 6 to 12.

We were sent a pair of Beibi shoes for Brandon. We choose the Crawford shoes in navy in a 24 months. The site gives you the measurements for the shoes but I guess I didn't check against his other shoes as they are too small. I would definitely recommend actually measuring the shoes you have against their measurements because I would say that there 24 months was more like a 4-5.

They came in a nice little box, perfect for giving them as a gift, which is exactly what we are going to do with them. A nice gift for someone with a new baby boy! Lucky little guy, or mommy.

Wee Squeak would like to offer one of my readers a pair of there own from the Beibi line. What will you choose?

To Enter:
Go to Wee Squeak to the Beibi line and tell me which ones you would choose if you won.

Gift Hero with Giveaway **Closed**

Gift Hero is a great place to go to if you are looking for the special gift for the child in your life! And the best part is that they now ship to Canada! I had looked into doing a giveaway for Gift Hero a while ago but they didn't ship to Canada and now they do!

You know when you get an invite to the latest birthday party and you have no idea what to get or at least within the budget you want to stick to? Or with Christmas coming up you don't know what to get your niece or nephew or grandchild? Do you spend an hour standing in the toy isle of your local toy store not really finding what you want?

Gift Hero is like the hero's of gift giving. You input the child's sex, age range and how much you want to spend.

The co-owners Lisa Fielding & Stefanie Katz-Rothman feel very strongly about giving back and creating opportunities to teach children the value and importance of charity. We want our children to realize how lucky they are and we also want every child to feel as fortunate as ours do. So, part of GIFT HERO is an opportunity to give back. We will work with children’s charities to provide gifts to children whose families can’t afford them.

We were able to try out the Tiki girl jewelry for Kristina. She loves it! Its a great craft item for when your stuck inside on a rainy day with nothing new and exciting to do. We spent Brandon's nap time the other day creating all sorts of new jewelry for her. What girl doesn't need more jewelry?

Need a gift? Go to Gift Hero, you won't be disappointed. You can also enter to win a gift certificate for $50 US

Fresh Organics with Giveaway **Closed**

After having their first child Nash, Jeff and Michelle were trying to figure out why Nash developed unexplained allergies, rashes and chronic colds. They were anxious to figure out what they were doing wrong. They consulted doctors and naturopaths and began eliminating things from their household and from Nash's diet. Eating organically and reading labels became their life and were astonished as to how many things contained synthetic perfumes and other allergenic or potentially toxic chemicals.

After Nash got better, his father realized that his desire to protect his own child had become a passion to protect all children from a world of deceptive advertising and toxic chemicals. Jeff was able to consult with top chemists, dermatologists and herbalists to develop baby products that were organic, hypoallergenic and free of potentially damaging chemicals. The process was more complicated and costly than he’d ever imagined but, after 3 years of development, the final products were thoroughly tested and joyously approved.

Fresh Organics was born in 2008 to produce the first Organic Baby products.

THEIR PRODUCTS DO NOT CONTAIN:

• Sodium Lauryl or Laureth Sulfates
• Parabens
• DEA, TEA & MEA Petroleum or Mineral Oils
• Phthalates or Artificial Colors
• Artificial Fragrances Nut Oils, Gluten, Soy or Dairy

If you are looking for a natural, affordable and safe skin care line for you baby or child look no further. They have a shampoo and body wash, bubble bath, velvety soft baby lotion, and baby bottom balm. We were given three out of four to try out!

The shampoo and body wash smells great. It lathers well, rinses clean away and is gentle on my sons skin. The bubble bath works great and a little goes a long way. The scent again is nice, its just a subtle scent, not to strong but nice. The velvety soft baby lotion is so silky soft. Rubs in nice and does a great job of moisturising Brandon's dry skin. These are definitely products I love and will buy in the future!

Fresh Organics would like to offer one reader the same things that I received as well as a 15% off coupon code, click on the link/picture below to recieve it!

Organically Hatched with Giveaway **Closed**

Organically Hatched carries everything you could need for your baby or toddler. They have it all sorted out into easy to navigate categories. You can find categories for walking, bottles, toys, diapering, clothes, etc.

They are a Canadian company based in British Columbia, gorgeous place! They started up this company after having kids of their own and realizing that they didn't have time to go from store to store to find all of the different products that they were looking for. How much easier would it be to just go online while your baby is napping, weather it be 2 am or 2 in the afternoon and order everything you want and need and have it shipped right to your door.

Organically Hatched has a promotion on right now that if you spend $100 you get free shipping anywhere in North America. That's great!

When I was asked what I would choose to review from Organically Hatched it took me forever to decide. I took my time going through all of the categories looking at all of their great products. I wanted so many things and just couldn't decide.

I finally decided on a wooden guitar from Tatiri. The Tatiri wooden guitar is hand painted with lead free paint. Its for ages 3 and up which makes sense as Brandon is 20 months and has broken the guitar strings a few times. They do include spares though, which has come in handy. He loves his guitar and plays with it ever chance he gets. It looks like a real guitar so he tends to be more attracted to it than other toy ones because it looks so real and he can strum it and play music.

Do you have a musical child in your life? If so you can enter to win a tambourine from the same line.

Natures Path Organic with Giveaway **Closed**

The seed of Natures Path Organics started with a seed in the 1930's. Rupert Stephens inherited the family farm: Mountain Valley Farm, 89 acres of hard living, a place to grow field berries and a family. Arran Stephens grew up on that unconventional farm and came away with a lifelong love of soil and nature. His fondest memories are of helping his parents gather and spread kelp on the fields, planting corn with his father and wandering through the farm eating sun-ripened berries.

Arran followed a path that led from the farm to India and ultimately to becoming one of the pioneers in the organic foods movement. He and Ratana founded Nature’s Path in 1985, and our family is still very much involved in the day-to-day operations of the company—so much so in fact, people call Ratana “Mom.”

Organic. That just means it’s made in nature, right?

Well, not exactly. We talk a lot about being organic, but it’s more than just a matter of being “natural” or not. Organic is a way of growing food that has a profound effect on our bodies and our planet. And it’s the way we’ve been growing food for a long, long time.

Organic agriculture is easier on the planet. When the soil is teeming with microbial life, it becomes the perfect medium in which to grow food. That means, during the lifecycle of an organic crop, no agro-chemicals are released into the air and groundwater. Then there’s the question of personal preferences. Many people simply don’t want pesticide residues in their diet. And lots of folks think organic strawberries taste better (of course they do)!

Natures Path Organics sent us some cereals to review. We got some of the Enviro-kids cereals and the Natures Path Organics cold cereals. They made sure to send lots of gluten-free cereals for my husband. He has been in heaven this last two weeks eating nice cold cereal every morning, instead of a banana or skipping breakfast all together.

There are so many different varieties and flavors. These cereals are in grocery and specialty stores all over. We have eaten them many times in the past and will continue to do so in the future. My husband thought that it was great to have different options for breakfast that were nutritious and filling.

Natures Path Organics have generously offered my readers a chance to win a gift package of 5 Natures Path Organics products. Win New Crunchy Maple Sunrise, Optimum Strawberry and Yogurt, Pumpkin FlaxPlus granola, EnviroKidz Leapin Lemurs bars, and EnviroKidz Gorilla Munch!!!

SCI Scandinavian Child

SCI Scandinavian Child is an online company started by a mom who wanted more eco friendly, stylish, high quality children's items to be available to families everywhere. They stick to strict guidelines when they bring in a new product to their store.

Scandinavian Child began shortly after the birth of Founder Brenda Berg’s first child, and Scandinavian Child officially launched in the spring of 2003 with its flagship product, the Svan High Chair. Brenda quickly found high demand for high-quality children's products that emphasize beautiful design, functionality and safety, and continues her pursuit of designs without compromise.

The "designs without compromise" philosophy means every product we represent must meet our demanding criteria:
Style - Timeless designs that blend with home décor or match parents' sense of personal style

Safety - Safety-driven designs that meet or exceed both mandatory and voluntary safety standards for juvenile products

Multi-functional - Products that serve over the long term

Eco-friendly - Environmentally conscious designs that emphasize sustainable raw materials, lead-free finishes, Phthalate-free plastics, PBDE-free cushions, low-VOC paint, and formaldehyde-free plywood.

Superior Quality and Service - Long-term warranties and exceptional customer service assure customers that they can expect a high-quality product with a matching level of support.

From the start, Brenda had a multi-brand strategy, expecting that she would find ‘neat little brands’ in Scandinavia to add to the collection. That didn’t quite happen, as wonderful brands from across the globe started finding her. Scandinavian Child currently represents six brands from Sweden (2), Norway, United Kingdom, France and New Zealand.

SCI Scandinavian Child carries Anka, Beaba, Cariboo, lilleBaby, Micralite, and Svan. If you like style, quality and great eco baby products you need to check out this site.

We got to try out the Svan Scooter. Its strong, sturdy construction keeps them safe while its abstract shape lets their imaginations roam free. Is it a fire engine or a unicorn? They'll love dreaming up new ideas every time they climb on. While nurturing an active imagination, the Svan Scooter also helps toddlers develop a sense of balance, coordination and physical fitness. By pushing themselves along with their feet, they gain motor skills and strengthen their growing bodies.

The scooter is from one to five and up to 50 lbs. Its made of sustainable birch wood with a lead-free finish and low-VOC paints and is already put together! Ya for no assembly!
SCI has offered my readers 10% off their own SVAN Scooter, use code scoot10 expires Nov 6th 2009

Naturaworld with Giveaway **Closed**

Here is a contest you won't want to miss out on! NaturaWorld was founded by father and son team, Harry and Ralph Rossdeutscher, Natura was created out of a desire to solve the mystery behind having a healthier, more abundant lifestyle. As research led to the discovery of just how much a quality night’s sleep contributed to a productive daily lifestyle, Natura’s founders searched for a solution that would help people sleep well in order to live better.

As a result, in 1994, Natura World, Inc was born.

Rossdeutscher and Son found that, while many mattresses on the market looked plush and luxurious and even felt comfortable when tested in the store, these mattresses failed to address the more serious long term issues such as continual back pain, restless sleep, and waking up groggy and tired. They discovered that consumers were in need of healthy sleep in order to respond to the demands of the day. The Rossdeutscher team set out to create a total sleep solution with benefits that were more than just “skin deep.”

Researching how the body moves and body activity during sleep, they created a bed that was designed to work with the body, not against it. Their Classic IV bed with its patented Double Slat Technology was an immediate success. The bed was received enthusiastically by consumers and was both endorsed and recommended by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. This started the ball rolling towards the creation of a luxurious, healthy line of natural bedding, as well as the manufacturing of numerous innovative sleep enhancing products to help people wake up to a better day.

Natura has the most gorgeous bedding I have ever seen and they had excellent customer service, they answered all the questions that I had, like isn't it itchy, no, and more! They are a very transparent company, who believe that you should know exactly whats in your bedding just as you do with your food. We received the washable wool mattress pads, washable wool all season comforters and sunshine pillows for the kids. I was so excited to try out this bedding for the kids, so excited I still want to crawl into their beds at night instead of mine.

Our house has a wood stove for heat so the temperature of our house is very hard to regulate. We are either way to hot or freezing cold and can go back and forth many times during the day and night. Wool bedding's biggest feature is that it regulates the body's temperature naturally. No sweaty, clammy kids that are kicking off the covers because they are too hot and then wake up again later because they are freezing.

I feel good at night knowing that they are cozy and warm in nice natural bedding. Wool naturally repels dust mites, bed bugs and other common allergens because it lacks the one thing they need – moisture. While wool fibers store moisture at their core, it’s released directly to the environment while the outside stays dry. With synthetic fibers, moisture sits on the outside of the fibers and the fabric feels wet to the touch.

Wool naturally draws moisture away from your body, storing as much as 30% of its own weight without feeling wet to the touch. Cotton only absorbs 8%, synthetics less than 5%. Because wool is so good at drawing moisture from your skin to its core, your body regulates its own temperature more efficiently.

NaturaWorld has generously offered my readers the chance to win a twin comforter and twin washable wool mattress pad. Wow! They have also offered a discount code funky10 for 10% off any pillow - expires Nov 20/09!!

Dali Decals

Dali Decals is the place to go if you want to do up your child's nursery or bedroom. Instead of having to paint again and again if you are like me and want to rearrange and redecorate all of the time. Its so much easier to order some wall decals from Dali decals. They arrive quickly and are a breeze to put up.

You can put up and take them down and put them back up again. If you are moving you can take them with you, and there are so many designs to choose from. They have so many great ideas about where you can put them and what to do with them. There are designs for the nursery and your child's room, your bathroom, kitchen, living room and more!

I choose the big "Love" design for my living room wall for the center of all of my family pictures. I haven't put it up yet because I just don't seem to have any time to rearrange all of the photos, with the help of my 19 month old, but will put it up soon. I am so excited about it, even my husband is. I will make sure to post a picture once its all up. From reading all of the reviews you can tell how easy it is. They sent a little plastic rubber with the decal, sort of like a credit card, to rub it on.
Dali Decals come in so many colors and are all custom made. You go through and pick out which design you like and then can choose the color. It is custom to you and your house. We love our Dali Decal, stay tuned for the photo of the finished product!

Dali Decals has offered my readers a 5% off coupon code on anything in their store right now and if you spend $50 you get free shipping (US only) Use code FunFunky5OFF to get your 5% off! It expires Oct 31st.

Livie and Luca with Giveaway **Closed**

Livie and Luca was started up by 3 moms who were looking for modern and funky baby shoes that were still flexible, soft, lightweight and affordable. They couldn't find anything that fit their criteria so they started chatting with other moms. When they realized that other moms were having the same problem they thought about filling that niche themselves. After many years of research and sleepless nights Livie and Luca was born in May of 2005.

Livie and Luca is committed to sharing their unique style with families who may not always want to shop at a “big box” store by offering their baby and toddler shoes online, through in-home parties, and through special boutiques. How cool is that? I would love to go to a baby and toddler shoe home party.

Something else that I like about Livie and Luca is that they reuse all of their leather scraps. They don't just throw them out, they use them for another design. Each pair of shoes is hand made. The artisans even get to leave their own unique mark on each of the shoes that they make, underneath the strap. Because they are all handmade each pair of shoes is unique, they differ just slightly than the others of the same design. I like knowing that someone held these shoes in their hands and created them, not just someone operating a machine.

Don't know what to do with your child's shoes once they outgrow them? Livie and Luca has the answer. Livie & Luca has partnered with Art for Humanity to arrange for the delivery of donated children's shoes to low-income families in Honduras, the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Art for Humanity is a humanitarian organization that was formed to assist impoverished families to use their current skills to begin micro-businesses. You can't help but feel good doing that.

We were sent the Emilios in Lime for Brandon and love them. They are actually sized and so adorable. They are an amazing quality and a shoe that I feel great about putting on my sons feet. They even seem a bit wider than the average shoe which is great because so many kids seem to have wide feet. They are chubby or just plain wide. We love our shoes! Thank you Livie and Luca.

Livie and Luca have also generously offered one reader the chance to win a pair of their choice and 10% off any regular priced item using code funkymommy10off expires January 5th 2010

UV Skinz with giveaway **Closed**

UV Skinz started up after Rhonda's husband Darren passed away after a 5 year battle with malignant melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. Rhonda decided she wanted to make a difference and she can. She doesn't want more families to have to go through what she and her family did. Did you know that just one severe sunburn during a child’s first fifteen years could double the chance of developing skin cancer as an adult? I didn't.

I do everything in my power to protect my children from BPA, obesity, illness etc. When the BPA scare came about I immediately through out all of the number 7 plastic from my house, I get flu shots and feed my children healthy and try to do some organic. I do the best that I can with the information that I can.

I always sunscreen my kids and when I learned about UV sun wear I started buying it for my kids. I love the idea that I can get a long sleeved shirt for my daughter so that her neck and arms are covered for as long as we need them covered. Think about how much of their skin is exposed in a bikini. There is no re-sun screening or worrying about it coming off in the water. There is also no adding chemicals to your child's body. Sunscreen isn't the healthiest thing to put on your body, and its definitely better than even natural sunscreen in that you put it on and you are good, no reapplying!

We got to try out the Skargyle long sleeved shirt and matching shorts. The size was great, shes 7 in 2 weeks so we got a size 8. The shorts fit great but won't last to long. She has a bigger bum :) The top is a generous size. Its a bit baggy and should fit snug so it will last a long time. The seams are all flat-locked so there is no rubbing or chafing. There is also a tag built right into the back of the shirt for your child's name so you have much better luck getting it back if you lose it and as my daughter learned, knowing the front from the back.

We love our UV Skinz and know that you will to. They aren't just for kids either, you can one for yourself or husband. Everyone needs protected from the sun. If you would like to win a UV skin of your choice enter to win one here!
