Personally I would take my parents and kids to the Disneyland, for like a month.  We could do Sea world, Disneyland for days on end, swim, go to the zoo.  Then we could go to Hawaii and spend a few weeks on the beach.  I don't know who would love that more.  Maybe a girls weekend in Las Vegas?  That would be epic.

Card Swap with a Giveaway

More and more for the Holidays people are buying gift cards for each other.  Its getting harder and harder to shop for a lot of people and gift cards are a great solution.  They are also great for people who live far away.  Why do you want to buy someone something for $30 and then spend $20 to ship it.  Why not send them a $40 gift card and you are both up.  Not to mention how much faster it will get to them.  There is some trouble though with gift cards.  What if you buy a gift card for what you think is their favorite store and really they would never shop at.  A restaurant that your grandmother thinks you love but really its not in your town or even within 8 hours of your town. 

Well what do you do then with your gift card  when you don't want it or can't use it?  Well you can regift it to someone else or you can try and sell it on craigslist, good luck with that though as I am sure people think that's all sorts of sketchy wondering if there is even a balance on it.  I know I wouldn't buy a gift card from a stranger on craigslist even though I buy all sorts of other things on their.

If you have gift cards sitting around collecting dust that you are not going to use you can sell them to Cardswap.ca for cold hard cash.  I had a gift card for a movie theatre sitting in my wallet for over a year.  The movie theatre isn't even in my town, its over 1 1/2 hours away and I realized that I was never really going to use it.  So what I did was punch into Cardswap.ca how much it was worth and where it was for and it gave me my amount.  Once I mailed it in they verified the amount on the card and sent me my cheque.  It took less than two weeks from the time I mailed it to the time I could cash my cheque.  Love it and will do it again :)

Maplelea Dolls with a Giveaway

Kristina has been into dolls forever always has been always will be.  She had talked about getting a Maplelea doll last year so I was pretty pumped to get one for her to review this year.  I was so pumped when it arrived, but when I decided to be super sly one night and give her a bunch of ideas on what she could ask for for Christmas she wasn't into Maplelea dolls anymore.  I was so bummed.  I guess shes just more into cuddle friends than actual dolls now. 

I sure made a lot of friends quickly though when I put the call out to my facebook friends on who wanted to review Jenna a Maplelea doll for me.  I had comments from cousins and friends within minutes and this was at like 11:00 at night.  Jenna went on a nice ride and is now wrapped up for an adorable little soon to be 4 year old who will love her forever.

Maplelea Dolls are very similar at a distance to the American version of this doll.  They are an 18" soft bodied doll with eyes that open and close, posable arms and legs, and nice soft hair.  They each come with a journal that is filled with facts about your new friend as well as many blank pages for you to fill in with stories about your journeys together.

There are 6 original Maplelea dolls all together to choose from, Jenna, Alexi, Brianne, Leonie, Saila, and Taryn.  They are all very different, and all have a story.  Meet Jenna.  When Jenna is on the go (which is always!) she likes to wear clothes that won't hold her back. She can go anywhere in this three colour t-shirt with Maplelea logo and comfortable fleece pants. Socks and funky blue sneakers make her feet move fast. Her red hair is held in two long ponytails with coordinating hair elastics.

They also each have their own story about where they came from, there hobbies and more.  You can really get to know your doll and choose a doll based on weather or not you want them to be just like you or weather you want someone who looks like you or if you are lucky both.  You can choose a doll who comes from the same part of the country as you, they are all of course from Canada and all have amazing qualities about them.  I would be happy to have any of these dolls as my daughters friend :)

Live Clean Spa therapy with a Giveaway

Yoplait joins the General Mills Family with a Giveaway

Did you know that Yoplait yogurt has been made in Canada since 1971?  I had no idea!  I love it though and its just another great reason to buy Yoplait!  I also found out that the great Yoplait Kids products, Yop, tubes and MiniGo contain no artificial flavours, sweeteners, or gelatin, other than Yop Vanilla Tropics which contains natural and artificial flavours.  They are also a great source of Vitamin D and Calcium, of course!

My kids love Yoplait, its our go to yogurt and I also love that I can usually find some great coupons online for them, which helps as well.  One of my favorite things to do with Yoplait tubes is to throw them right into the freezer.  They never go bad, not that they stick around long enough anyways.  They go into the kids lunch bag either the night before or in the morning, depending on how on the ball we are at making lunch's, and by lunchtime its thawed and nice and cold for lunch.  Both kids have been taking them almost everyday.

What have you guys been doing to get back into the back to school routine?  We have been going to bed at the same time every night, having dinner at a consistent time, emptying backpacks and lunches as soon as we get home so its not forgotten until morning.  Checking forms and homework when we get home before they are off playing.  We have also been doing as much outside time as we can before this weather changes.  The more energy they burn off before bed the better bedtime is going.

Do you like it Hot? Old El Paco giveaway #LMDConnector

I had the opportunity to review the great new products from Old El Paso!  We are huge taco fans, the kids ask for tacos all the time.  I prefer the soft shells and the kids don't really care, they like both the hard and soft shells.  But now Old El Paso has come out with some great new products!  There is a new Extra Mild, Super Tasty Hard Taco Dinner Kit, a new Mild Taco Seasoning, and a new Hot & Spicy Fajita Dinner Kit!

Florsheim Kids with a Giveaway

You may not have heard of Florsheim Kids before, and that's because the kids line just came out, for this Fall!  Florsheim has had a men's line out in 1892, and has come very far since then.  They have gone from making shoes one pair at a time by hand, to supplying boots for the troops in the first and second WW to selling a pair every 4 seconds in 1966.

If that doesn't say a lot about a company I don't know what does.  Florsheim has proven themselves, the quality of their shoes and that they know whats in style and what to put into style.  I could even say with confidence that Florsheim is a leader in the shoe fashion industry.

I got to review a pair of shoes for Brandon from Florsheim and they are so handsome.  They are little man shoes, so awesome.  They aren't just for leaving in the closet for a special occasion either.  They are great with a pair of dark denim or some khakis.

Don't open me challenge with Pizza Hut ~ and a Giveaway

Well its the long weekend, we are trying to be laid back and chill before the craziness of back to school hits us in full force on Tuesday, so what are we going to have for dinner?  Pizza Hut!

Umi shoes with a Giveaway

We have reviewed Umi shoes so many times in the past that they are like your favorite old runners to us.  Brandon is actually still wearing his last review runners from Umi.  I bought him a very expensive pair of sandals when he outgrew his Umi sandals and he hates them.  He would rather wear socks with his Umi runners than wear those expensive sandals.  He does like his flip flops but you can't wear those to daycare.

 

However right now we are planning for Fall and Back to School!  It was time to get Brandon some new shoes for Fall, of course they had to be some new Umi runners!  He thinks they make him go "super fast" and he never complained once about them hurting until his toes were pushing on the end :(  Apparently I should check the fit more often.

He somehow knows, with his Umi's, which shoe goes on which foot and will choose them over anything else any day.  Can't go wrong with them that's for sure.  They last day after day at daycare in the dirt and sand, actually come home full of sand everyday, and of course he runs with them all day long, and I mean all day :)  Man that boy has a lot of energy!

 

There are some gorgeous new styles out from Umi this Fall!  Check them out!!!  There are some gorgeous little girl shoes that I was drooling over!  I sure wish I could still buy Kristina those cutesy, sparkly, sweet little shoes.  Most of the stuff I pick out for her now, she looks at me and says, "Mom that's for little kids!"  So sad, they grow up to fast!

 

Umi doesn't just have running shoes either!  They have some gorgeous shoes for when you need something a little dressier, maybe for church or Christmas concerts or just for going out.  Another one of my favorite features of Umi is that they don't just go up to toddler sizes or even a size 3, they go all the way up to a size US6, that's hard to find and awesome!!!  They have everything you could want :)

My Wonderful Walls with a Giveaway

Since being in our new place, and wanting to make it as special as possible for the kids.  I wanted them to have the coolest, funnest rooms in town!  The separation of the kids Dad and I has been hard on them although they are adjusting fabulously and doing so well considering their lives were thrown upside down in a matter of days.  They are so in love with their new home and frequently mention to me how much they love it here and how much they love their rooms.  That in itself makes everything worth it to me.  I know that I am much happier with how things have worked out but its so much harder on kids.  Anything I can do to make it easier on them and make them forget about it is a huge plus for me.

I let the kids go online and look at lots of pictures of what they wanted their rooms to look like.  They spent lots of time thinking and talking with me and each other about what they wanted and ultimately got to decide!  I really wanted them to go with wall stickers as I don't want to have to paint when we move one day.  I didn't sway them as much as I wanted Brandon to have a monster room he really wanted outerspace so that's what he got. 

We picked out the space wall decal kit from My Wonderfull Walls and Brandon couldn't be happier with it.  He has a super cute sign up with his name on it and it came with so many decals!  We had room for all of them and there was enough to spread among all of the walls but I didn't think they would stick very well to the brick wall.  We tried a small one and it worked fine but the big ones wouldn't work because of the groves on the wall.

Brandon loves bringing people to his room to show off his space room and everyone who has seen it loves it.  One of the things I love so much about the decals from My Wonderful Walls is the quality.  They are a really nice thick decal.  They are strong so there is not much of a chance of them ripping and they are so vibrant on the walls.  Brandon even learned a few things about planets and moons and satellites while we did it :)

Dezign with a Z with a Giveaway

We are all settled into our new place and couldn't be happier.  The kids are adjusting well, amazingly actually.  We have had some bumps along the way for sure but they are doing amazing.  I had some dressers from the kids old rooms but had to start over with all of their other furniture.  I found Kristina a loft bed and a great captains bed for Brandon and have picked up bits and pieces along the way.  They both wanted to paint but we are renting so it really wasn't an option.  Our landlords are amazing but I didn't want to have to deal with repainting when we one day move again.

I didn't want posters all over their walls, making holes, so the only option out there is wall decals!  I am a huge fan of wall decals.  They are easy, fun, don't damage the walls, can look so much more amazing than a picture or poster and last untill you are sick of them and really want to change your decor.  Even then you just peel them off and start over.  No muss to fuss.

Kristina is a huge soccer fan, she has played for a year now and loves it.  She begged and begged for soccer wall decals and the only place we could find something soccer related was at Dezign with a Z.  They had a few to choose from, this really cool one of a girl, or they is a boy one as well, kicking the soccer ball.  She finally decided on just the soccer balls.  She was so surprised that you could get the soccer balls in any combo of colors, you didn't have to go with just black and white.  She did end up going with just black and white, classic, but it was pretty cool that you could have pink soccer balls. 

She has been nothing but thrilled with the soccer balls, everyone who comes over gets hauled upstairs and she shows off her soccer balls to them, anyone who will look!  I am thrilled with how they turned out.  They were so easy to install.  After dinner one night we went to town.  They came in two sheets, each with 16 soccer balls on them so we cut out, each ball, very roughly, and sorted them into piles.  Then we started with the biggest ones and put those up throughout her room.

All you do is peel off the white side, rub the decal on the wall, it came with a great plastic card like piece to rub with, you can also use a credit card, and you rub it on the wall really good.  Then you peel off the plastic side.  So easy to do and you don't touch the sticky side of the decal at all which ensures that it doesn't lose its stickiness.  I like to rub the decal again once the plastic is off, just to ensure a good clean stick.  You want to make sure that you start with nice clean dry walls, and if they are freshly painted you want to wait at least a week to ensure its totally dry.

3 out of 4 of Kristinas walls are regular painted drywall walls but one is brick.  We put a few decals on the brick but it was a lot trickier to do as brick is a lot more textured.  The ones we did put on the brick have stuck just as well as the others but I didn't want to do to many just in case it didn't work!

Card Swap with a Giveaway

I would hope that by now many of you had heard of the great Canadian company out there called Card Swap.  Personally I love gift cards.  I work in retail and often tell people that its like getting two gifts!  You get the gift card when you open it, you can think about what you are going to buy and get all excited about it.  But then when you actually go to the store and pick something out, going to the till to pay for it and getting it way cheaper or even FREE!  I love that and I know my customers at work do as well!

Card Swap is a site for Canadians where you can go online and sell your gift cards, for those places that aren't anywhere near you or that you just don't like for cash.  You can also go online and buy discounted gift cards.  Its a win win. 

When you want to sell a gift card to Card Swap, you go onto their site www.cardswap.ca and enter in how much your gift card is for and it will tell you how much you will get for it. You set yourself up a Card Swap account, only takes a few minutes, and you send them your gift card.  They verify the balance, and send you a cheque out asap!

Scentsy for Mothers Day with a Giveaway!

I had to work for Mothers Day but my Daddy and I had a delicious breakfast of homemade waffles.  It brought me back to when I was little and he would make them or pancakes for us every Sunday.  I got my amazing Mama a Grandma picture frame and a shirt from work.  She was pretty happy and I was thrilled to have my daughter come home and help my Dad make up dinner and get some pretty awesome homemade cards and a coupon book for some chores around the house and a hand massage from my daughter!

After the split with my husband it has made me cherish every moment with my kids even more than I already did.  I miss them so much when they are gone but I am just trying to spend the time I have alone, when I am not working, to focus on myself and how to make myself the best me I can be.

I will give you a bit of background if you haven't heard of Scentsy before.  Basically what they are are warmers that you put wax into the top of and when you plug them in the light bulb in the bottoms warms the wax and then the scent fills the room.  They smell amazing and are not strong scented, just nice that makes you think mmmm it smells good in here, not like uggg candles :)

Scentsy is great for helping me relax and of course will be a great piece to have in my living room.  This warmer I got for review is my third Scentsy warmer but I wouldn't dream of getting rid of the others.  They are great in any room of the house, don't burn the kids or cause fires like traditional candles and smell amazing!  There are so many great scents to choose from.

The warmer that I received this time is a new looking warmer all together.  Its a Silhouette warmer and they are gorgeous, I would love about 2 more to have around my new living room just for decoration.  With over 80 scents to choose from you are sure to fall in love with more than a few.  Right now I am loving the White Sands!

Kinder Canada - Facebook Giveaway - $500 towards a staycation!

Spring Break is coming up faster than you know!  I am pretty excited because this year is the first year that our Spring Break will be two weeks long!  We have some pretty big plans this year!  We bought a 5th wheel last year, from Kris's grandparents, near the end of Summer.  We were only able to take it out once on our own after we bought it, we took it out two other times but will the rest of the family before we bought it. 

This year we want to use it as much as possible.  With me working nights and weekends all the time I am hoping to save up and use all of my vacation days this Summer :)  We started a tradition last year that we hope to continue until the kids are grown.  Kris actually did this growing up.  We are going to camp, over Easter, every year, with Kris's three sisters and their families!  Last year was so much fun, it only rained a little bit on the last day, and I can't wait to do it again.  Its the kick off of camping season!  Last year there was 7 adults and 8 kids :)  Gotta love it!

I am already known as the Kinder Aunty, the kids love coming over and getting Kinder eggs, I even game them to Brandon's cousins as part of the goodie bags from his birthday.  They sure love me :)

Easter is pretty much bang in the middle of our Spring break so we should have lots of time to prep and pack up, I love making a good list, and lots of time to relax and recover afterwords!  Can't wait!  Brandon is already asking how many more sleeps until camping!

Bio-K+ with a Giveaway

We are well into Winter and its cold and flu season.  Probiotics are one of the options that you can use to up your immune system. When Bio-K+ contacted me about reviewing their line of probiotics I was definitely interested, the kids seem to always have some sort of cold or something and I thought this could be the missing piece that we needed.  I haven't shared to much on here about Kris's Nana but she is fighting lung cancer right now.  Basically when the probiotics arrived Nana's immune system had bottomed out from the Chemo among other things. 

I decided that she needed it a whole lot more than we did.  She agreed to take the capsules everyday and although we will never know if it was ALL Bio-K+ that did it or not, but her immune system got so much stronger.  So much so that we were able to spend Christmas with her!!!!  Because that is the way life is we will never know why she got cancer, why her immune system got so strong so quickly and why she feels like a million dollars now. 

Bottom line, I don't care what did it, its so worth the money, time finding the product, and anything else that has held you back in the past from trying probiotics.  If you think you can just pick up a pack of yogurt that's full of probiotics, your wrong, you will not get the same effect as if you took a bottle or pill of Bio-K+ here is why.

Unfortunately, very few products labelled as probiotics have undergone double-blind, clinical trials with their results published in peer-reviewed medical journals. The effectiveness of a probiotic is determined by the interrelationship of a whole host of factors including: strain(s), quantity, and the form in which it is prepared for consumption. Consumers should look for information from studies carried out specifically on the final product as and when it is consumed and not those merely derived from in vitro studies on isolated bacterial strains.


Basically, just because it says that it has 5 million bacteria it doesn't mean that it has that many when you eat it, there probably aren't that many left!  Bio-K+ capsules are freeze dried and do not start working until they get to your intestine because of the coating on them.  They do have a liquid option that is fresh probiotics.  We tried that as well and the kids didn't like the taste but Kris drank them, he said he didn't love them but didn't have to gag them down.  They would be great hidden in a smoothie :)

So basically you take anywhere from 1-3 capsules or 1/4 to a full bottle daily depending on your needs, and once you are happy and stable you can balance out how much you take.  Consistency is key, taking it everyday, not just when you feel sick.  Also I asked when you know when your body is happy and at a good level, she told me that the proof is in the poop.  When you are having consistently regular poops regularly then you are good :)

Jumpstart with a Giveaway

Jumpstart has been on Fun and Funky Mommy before, and they are here again because I love them!  For review they sent Brandon some new Wii games.  Brandon loves playing Wii but gets frustrated with lots of the games because they are meant for adults and older kids.  Jumpstart has a few games that are great for Brandon's age, almost 4.

Burt's Bees with a Holiday Giveaway

I have been a fan of Burt's Bees for a while now, as I am sure you have noticed as they have been on the blog a few times!  They make a very affordable natural product line with a vast selection of products.  There are some that I can't live without.  In the Summer you won't find me without the after sun soother, love it! 

For review this time I was sent a few different products from Burt's Bees.  It was the Burt's Bees facial care set and it included replenishing lip balm, peach and willowbark deep pore scrub, and soap bark and chamomile cleansing cream.  I also got the eye cream and daily moisturizing cream from the sensitive skin line which I am loving.  The lip balm I have had before and love it, it moisturizes really well and doesn't feel all waxy like some do. 

I always wash my face in the shower in the morning and not at night, I know, bad for my skin but I am to tired at the end of the day :)  I have only used scrubs though so I wasn't a fan of the cleansing cream because it didn't really feel like it was all coming off and didn't leave that fresh clean after for me.  The scrub though is amazing and I use it everyday.  It leaves my skin feeling so clean and fresh. 

The sensitive skin line is awesome.  I have very sensitive skin so I love when companies come out with a line like this.  The eye cream was given to my MIL as I don't need eye cream, right?  ;)

The daily moisturizing cream though is my new daily cream.  It feels so nice on my skin, not greasy at all and doesn't cause any breakouts :)  The only thing I would change about it is that its a pump bottle and if you use a full pump you have way to much and its a waste.  I use about a half pump but it would be nice if the amount that came out was a lot less.  Nobody would need as much that comes out.

Burt's Bees has lots of gift packs for that hard to buy for person on your list and some great stocking stuffer ideas.  I know a little girl who will be getting some lip tints this year :)
