Holiday Gift Guide - Otterbottle with a Giveaway **Closed**

We are big fans of using reusable stainless steel bottles here and use many in a day. Brandon has his sippys and Kristina, Kris and I use the big ones! Otterbottle sent us the Pink Apple Blossom bottle and we love it! It came with both the twist off cap as well as the one that you suck out the water with! Its got a nice wide mouth, great for adding ice or filling it with a smoothie!

Kristina has used this size of a water bottle for her bed, school, and the fridge since she was about 5, yes she has 3 :) They are a a great size for us as well. I only like cold water to drink so a few years ago I stopped buying bottled water and bought reusable plastic ones but the day the BPA scare came out in Canada I threw them all out as well as all of the other plastic that we used with food and have gone to stainless steel. We haven't looked back and have been happy ever since. There really isn't anything you can get from Stainless steel that you couldn't get from plastic with water bottles. The only thing you can't do is microwave but we never did that anyways.

Holiday Gift Guide - Rubik's Cube

Do you need stocking stuffer ideas yet? I sure do, I have some for sure but need more! The bigger the better to because then it takes up some more space lol! The Rubik's Cube is such a classic toy! Everyone knows what it is and what to do with it! Brandon got to try it out and loves it, he doesn't really know how to do it but he does play with it and his Sissy helps him with it! Here are some fun facts about it!

Ernő Rubik invented the Cube in the spring of 1974 in his home town of Budapest, Hungary. He wanted a working model to help explain three-dimensional geometry and ended up creating the world’s best selling toy.

Rubik’s inspiration for the Cube’s internal mechanism came from pebbles in the River Danube whose edges had been smoothed away.

Rubik called his invention the ‘Magic Cube’. It was renamed the Rubik’s Cube by the Ideal Toy Corporation in 1980.

More than 300 million Rubik’s Cubes have been sold worldwide. If all the cubes were placed on top of each other it would be enough to reach the North Pole from the South Pole!

At the height of the Rubik’s craze in the mid-1980s, it was estimated that one-fifth of the world’s population had played the Cube.

‘Cubing’ still infects people of all ages. ‘Cubaholics’ are said to suffer from ‘Rubik's wrist’ and ‘Cubist's thumb’!

Rubik’s Cube has featured in hundreds of books, magazines, movies and even had its own TV series on ABC in America. Millions of web pages, blogs and YouTube videos are now dedicated to cubing.

In May 2007, Thibaut Jacquinot of France became the first person to complete the Cube in under 10 seconds in open competition, setting a world record time of 9.86 seconds. The current world record for a single solve was set by Erik Akkersdijk at the 2008 Czech Open with a time of 7.08 seconds.

In 2007 the Rubik's Cube beat stiff competition to be recognised in the annual CoolBrands list by the Superbrands organisation.

Aurthur's Smoothies

When Brandon wakes up in the morning his first word is juice, and its a very tired, cranky, demanding juice! He wants it now, fast and now! He has a bit of a juice problem. We have always cut it with at least half water and he doesn't mind water but he would much rather have juice and has no problem letting you know that!

We also try and drink smoothies often but sometimes we just don't have the time to make them. Even though it sounds silly they do take a few minutes and its just easier to grab a glass of juice. Arthur's Smoothies has thought about all of this for you! They have created a line of smoothies that are not only delicious but are really good for you as well.

There are 5 kinds of traditional smoothies and 3 SuperFruit smoothies! They all sound good, we tried the Mango Plus and loved it! The kids drank it up and we even tried some blended up with ice and that was delicious too!

Each 250ml serving contains up to 14 essential nutrients and is as source of fiber. You have to love that! They are 100% fruit and don't contain any additives and are not made from concentrate! Its great to grab when you are short of time and need something healthy, you can't feel guilty feeding it to the kids either! The only change I would like to see, is a bit smaller of a price point. At Superstore they were $6.27 for the 900ml bottle! Not bad but not something we could afford to get to often.

They also have a great line of juices that looked really good too!

Tsitah Threads has had a giveaway here before but this time I got to try out a hat first! Its so cute and can't wait to give it to my soon to be, hopefully a boy, nephew when hes born! Its so cute with peace signs all over it and skulls! Its so funky and fun, which I of course love! Its made of cotton and so soft, has a nice bit of stretch in it but I would say that's its a bit small as the toddler size doesn't fit Brandon at 2 1/2. I love that they are reversible as it just like two hats in one! They would make a great gift for any little one in your life, they are fun, funky and super cute!

Quaker Journey - You can win!!

At some point everyone, no matter how healthy they are, decides that they want to become more healthy. Weather you are 600 lbs and can't walk to the fridge without becoming out of breath or you are a healthy weight and just want to start exercising more or exercise lots and need to start eating better there is always something we can do to better ourselves! Lynn has decided to do this for herself and for her family! You can read all about what she is going through on her blog and even win!!

Personally in the last few weeks I decided that we needed to eat WAY more fruits and veggies and that I was struggling everyday to figure what to make for dinner at 4:00. I decided to start meal planning!!! I made my dinner plans for two weeks and bought accordingly and spend a few hours on grocery shopping day chopping and cutting! I made up a huge fruit salad for the week, turns out it only lasted 4 days :) and I made a big veggie tray. Now before dinner if anyone is hungry I put out the veggie tray with some dip and I don't really worry about how much they eat!

I ate the fruit salad for breakfast everyday and everyone else chowed down as well. It was so nice to have it right there and ready for me in the morning. The meal planning is great to! I can't pick what to have for dinner the next night after dinner because I'm not hungry so I can't think about what to eat the next day. I just look at my list, pull out the meat, if there is any, and then there is no thought the next day, I just cook it and its delicious! I have also been trying to make things for dinner on the nights that I work that will still be good just quickly heated up when Kris gets home with the kids and that is ready in time for me to take to work and heat up and its going really well!

I am really lucky with how good my kids are with eating everything and anything. They will definitely try it once and love the strangest things. Some of the strange foods they like are olives, and raw parsnips! On Thanksgiving this year we went to my girlfriends for dinner and while she was making the parsnips Brandon decided that he wanted one so she just handed one to him, and then of course Kristina, and they both ate the entire thing and wanted more lol. I sure am lucky though that I don't have picky kids! I am picky so at least I didn't pass that down to them!!

Holiday Gift Guide - M&M Meats with a Giveaway **Closed**

What do you put out for appies when you have company over around the Holidays? Weather you don't like cooking or just don't have the time for it with all of the hustle and bustle around the Holidays there is a much easier solution! Every year I pick up a bunch of different appies from M&M Meats to have on hand if some people stop buy around dinner time and because we often have appy nights when we are just to exhausted to cook a full meal!

Some of my favorite appies from M&M Meats are the scallops and bacon, that would have to be our all time favourite, as well as the sausage rolls, chicken wings, the teriyaki is amazing, and we also love the shrimp platter! What are your favorites at M&M Meats?

I can come with all sorts of reasons as to why I visit M&M Meats all throughout the year but it comes down to the fact that its all good food, really good, easy to make, and very affordable. Ever since Kris was diagnosed with a wheat allergy I found it so much harder to shop. Its getting to be a lot easier but its still always got its challenges.

The first time I went to M&M Meats after his diagnosis I said that I had no idea what he could have that we would all enjoy and that I really didn't know where to start! It just so happened that the woman who was working at the time has a son with Celiac disease, which is just a more severe but with the same trigger, wheat. She was awesome with helping me see what Kris could have. The ingredients are on everything, which is huge for us! She helped me find so many things, things that are still our staple go to items from M&M Meats!

The customer service has been great every time that I have been there before and after that awesome experience. Holiday Gift Guide - Sarah's Silks with a Giveaway **Closed**

I have been a big fan of Sarah's Silks for about 2 years now! When I sold my consignment store when Brandon was 4 months old, this was one of the first lines that they brought it and I was hooked! I started by getting Kristina some play silks and our collection has grown since then! We have lots of playsilks, two swords, which are my favorite, and a wizard hat the I just picked up for Christmas, a crown, wand and I sure we have more!

The swords are amazing because in my opinion no matter how much you tell little boys not to play with guns and swords they just do it anyways. He plays with them all of the time! We even had to get two so that both kids had one and then they can just go to town hitting each other with them. For review Sarah's Silks sent us a cape for each of the kids! They are so cute, and I love that at ages 8 and 2 1/2 they play together so nice with these. They love to play dress up and imagine that they are the Mommy and Daddy :) With just a simple tie at the neck these lightweight capes have provided hours of fun for the kids! Another great idea for Christmas is to use silks or other items as wrapping for your gifts! The wrapping is the gift too :)
