Does typing out thoughts or making lists on the computer seem logical? Do you retain and remember conversations in a meeting or class if they are handwritten rather than typed? Even in this digital age, leading research reveals that writing information by hand, on paper enhances comprehension and retention better than typing on a keyboard.

“When we write, even before we write, we are putting thought into evaluating the information that we are receiving,” says Dr. Steve Graham, a published author and the Currey Ingram Professor of education at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.  “That process of putting pen to paper helps retain ideas more firmly in our minds, leading to greater recall at a later time.”

A recent national study of adults by BIC, conducted by Canadian Omnibus, confirms that when Canadians write down notes in a meeting, class or somewhere else, they tend to remember the information better with handwritten notes (83%). The survey also revealed that 62% of Canadians actually prefer to hand write with pen and paper when studying for school, preparing notes for a presentation at work or just jotting down

thoughts or making lists.

I am always jotting down notes and lists and only do it by hand.  I have a grocery list on top of the fridge and am always adding to it when I run out of something and know before I go to the store to grab my list!  How would I know what groceries to get if my list was on my computer?  I guess you could print it but that seems like a big waste!

I got to try out some of the new BIC velocity pens and the ink is nice and dark and writes so smoothly.  My hubby ripped into the package right away as the pens we currently had were not working well at all.  These are our new go to pens, I will definitely buy more but these will last a lot longer than our last ones I am sure!
