My kids are skinny, always have been, except when they were little babies. Pants have always been hard for us, even when Kristina was little. They just have such small waists that its hard to find pants that stay up. Even once they hit size 2 and they have the adjustable waist it doesn't always go tight enough or the little buttons dig into their sides and are uncomfortable. Usually Brandon just wears yoga pants because they stay up, most of them, and are much more comfortable. When we want to put him in pants or jeans we need a belt.

The size is great too, its a bit big for Brandon, for some reason I thought it was 2-8 and at almost 8 it fits Kristina great.
